L.J. Reed, CEO - Chairman of the Board

LJ Reed has 34+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He retired from full time employment in the semiconductor industry in 2002 after a distinguished career serving in various technical and management positions with Motorola Inc. At the time of retirement he served as Corporate Vice President and Consultant to the Asia-Pacific Region.

His technical legacy includes the development of several "firsts" for Motorola, including the 10K, 10KH and 12K phased-lock-loop standard product families, Motorola's first product utilizing three-layer metalization and first integrated computer-aided design (CAD) system for application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design. Throughout the semiconductor industry, he is known for developing the industry's first three-layer-metal complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) arrays, the standard gate array families for emitter-coupled logic (ECL) and transistor transistor logic (TTL), and, in collaboration with other industry leaders, the open-architecture CAD standards for ASIC Design.

Notable positions that LJ held during his career with Motorola include Corp VP/SPS general manager of Japan, Corp VP/general manager of the Consumer Microcontroller Division, Corp VP/SPS director of the Americas region for the Consumer Systems Group, Corp VP/general manager of the Digital Consumer Division, Corp VP/general manager of the ASIC Division, VP/senior operations manager of the Bipolar Gate Arrays Operation. operations manager of the Bipolar Memories Operation, and Senior Design Manager of the Bipolar Digital Division.

In addition to his career in semiconductors, LJ served as a City Councilman for 2 years and as Mayor for 6 years of Gilbert, Arizona.

LJ has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona, holds 6 patents and is the author of several technical articles published in international technical magazines.


Albert J. Hugo- Martinez

Albert Hugo-Martinez is a results oriented executive with over 30 years management experience in the electronics industry. Albert is the former CEO of AMCC, GTI Corporation (GGTI) and currently serves on the boards of Microchip (MCHP) and Amkor (AMKR). Mr. Hugo-Martinez has over 25 years of P&L experience and has negotiated, built, and managed facilities in Scotland and Japan, managed remote facilities in the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China, negotiated international strategic alliances, i.e., Plessey (UK), Seiko Epson (Japan), H.P. (US), AMP (US), Read-Rite (US). Albert successfully directed Burr Brown's IPO, the sale of two divisions of TRW, raised $12 million in venture capital for AMCC, and acquired a fabless semiconductor company. Also for shareholder’s benefit, has positioned and sold 3 companies/division of GGTI.

Albert is a customer oriented leader recognized for his ability to generate profits through innovative, new product directions and sales growth; while implementing cost containment and employing an open communication style conducive to team building.

Albert has a BSEE from Northern Arizona University, a MSEE from University of Arizona, and a three year MBA in Executive Management from Arizona State University. He serves on the Board of Directors of the UCSD Cancer Center.


Greg Galanos, Managing Director - Mobius Venture Capital

Since 2000, he has led and/or managed early stage investments in semiconductors, communications equipment, wireless infrastructure software, internet-centric mobile platforms, DFM software and SOFC technologies.

He currently serves as a board member and director in a number of private companies notably Bloom Energy, Danger, Fujin, HVVi, Impinj, PocketThis, SkyPilot Networks and Visage Mobile. He previously led and/or managed investments in Transilica (acquired by Microtune), Dantz (acquired by EMC) and Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN).

Mr Galanos is a veteran of the software development industry as both a developer and an entrepreneur. In 1985, he founded and helped build Metrowerks, one of the world's leading software development tools providers, producers of the CodeWarrior line of programming tools (acquired by Freescale Semiconductor, formerly Motorola, in 1999). He also helped define Freescale's software strategy as part of the Office of the President in 1999.

Prior to 1985, he assisted in the development of geographic information systems for Hydro-Quebec and the James Bay Development Corporation in Montreal. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from l'Universite du Quebec a Montreal.


Bill Wiberg, Partner - Advanced Technology Ventures

Bill Wiberg joined Advanced Technology Ventures as a partner in 2003, with 23 years of operating and investment experience. He focuses on new investments in the communications and software markets and currently sits on the board of CombineNet.

Prior to joining ATV, Bill was a general partner at Orange Ventures, a wireless-focused fund backed by Orange, one of the largest mobile service providers in the world. He also served as a general partner with Bowman Capital’s Private Equity Group. Bill spent 19 years at Lucent Technologies, holding several different positions, including president of the company’s $5 billion Cellular and PCS Wireless Networks division. Additionally, Bill served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA).

Bill earned an MBA from Columbia University, an MS in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, and a BS with Distinction, Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University.

Bill joined ATV in 2003 and focuses on investments in the cleantech, wireless, telecommunications, and IT sectors. His representative investments include Coskata, CombineNet, Great Point Energy, Handango, HVVi, Rive Technology, Useful Networks, and Visage Mobile.

Bill brings 22 years of operating and venture experience in telecommunications to ATV, including 19 years with Lucent Technologies. He was President of Lucent’s Cellular and PCS Wireless Networks division from 1997 to 2000, and in his final year, he grew the business by 38% to $5 billion in revenue. In 2001, Bill transitioned his telecommunications background to venture capital by joining Bowman Capital as a General Partner in the Private Equity Group. In 2002, Bill accepted a General Partner role at Orange Ventures, a wireless-focused fund backed by Orange, one of the largest mobile service providers in the world. Additionally, Bill has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA).

Bill holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University, an M.S. from Stanford University and a B.S. from Cornell University.


Jack Carsten, Managing Director - Horizon Ventures

Jack Carsten is a semiconductor industry veteran with 20 years of venture experience. Prior to forming Horizon Ventures in 1999, Jack managed Technology Investments, a seed investment firm in Los Altos, California. The fund focused on the formation of seed stage information technology firms, building their management teams and organizing syndicates of professional investors.

Before founding Technology Investments in 1991, Jack was a General Partner at U.S. Venture Partners in Menlo Park, California - a $750M venture capital partnership managing a broad portfolio of medical, retail and information technology investments.

Prior to U.S.V.P., Jack was a Senior Vice President of Intel Corporation who from 1975 to 1987 helped them to grow from a $35M startup to revenue of over $2.5B. Originally hired as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, he was named as the first head of the Microprocessor Group. Subsequently, Jack was named Senior Vice President for the Components Group, responsible for all semiconductor manufacturing and engineering. Prior to Intel, he was a Division Manager at Texas Instruments for their MOS and TTL Divisions.

Jack is a founder of the "Band of Angels" investment club and of the Valley Medical Center Foundation. He holds a B.A. degree in Physics from Duke University.


Wil Salhuana - President & Chief Marketing Officer

Wil Salhuana is a highly driven global executive with over two decades of experience in marketing, business development, operations and engineering in the semiconductor industry. Wil has built a successful career building start-up, high-growth businesses, and has accomplished this through careful strategic planning, working with great people, solid execution and building lasting partnerships.

Prior to co-founding HVVi, Inc. (HVVi), Wil was the VP & GM of the Broadband & Entertainment Division at Motorola, which he led from a startup to several hundred million dollars in sales and healthy profits. During his tenure, leading edge products were launched successfully, such as the 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity chip set for portable video games, DigiCypher security chip, DSP-based audio processors, video front-end devices and audio/video decoders. In 2000, Mr. Salhuana relocated to Japan for several months to secure new businesses and establish key customer partnerships in the gaming market. A result of these efforts was exemplified by the publicly announced introduction of wireless connectivity for Nintendo's portable gaming systems. In 2002, Mr. Salhuana was selected by the Motorola CEO as one of the top executives to attend a 2-week Executive Program held at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Wil has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. Wil actively serves the community as a member of the Tempe Diablos.
